Supporting Reading Success for All Students in Connecticut: Where We’ve Been, and Where We’re Going.

The Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, Commission on Women, Children and Seniors, and Commission on Equity and Opportunity jointly host a presentation of the current status of the work of the Connecticut K-3 Literacy Initiative (CK3LI), a partnership including the State Department of Education, the Neag School of Education at UCONN, HILL for Literacy, and Literacy How.

Results from pilots across the state consistently show that students experience greater growth in early literacy skills when their schools implement the CK3LI model. Come learn about the components of the model, hear stories of its successes, and discover how it can be implemented in any district or school to narrow the reading gap among our students.
  • A newly produced CK3LI video featuring students, parents, teachers, administrators, and state leaders
  • An overview of the program by its program leadership team, and its vision for the next steps of implementing tiered K-3 reading supports for Connecticut’s schools
  • Stories from the field, featuring examples of how CK3LI has impacted students and teachers.
  • The perspective of the state’s reading director on CK3LI, and a vision for the future.
