Helping DE Improve Reading Outcomes

Delaware DOE Approved Vendor

HILL for Literacy has been approved to provide professional development and coaching to Delaware schools around Ongoing HQIM Implementation Support for Teachers and Professional Learning in the Science of Reading. We’d love to talk with you about how the HILL can help your schools!

HILL for Literacy (or the HILL) is a tech-enabled literacy consultancy whose work is grounded in 40+ years of research. We’re experts in both the science of reading and the science of implementation. We can help your school take the insights from that research and put it into practice in your classrooms.

When we partner with a school, we organize and enrich the existing literacy elements. We provide customized training, building on the strengths and experience of the teachers and integrating the literacy efforts classroom by classroom. To make lasting change, the whole system needs to participate in designing goals and remain involved in the improvement efforts. We systematically facilitate this effort.

HQIM/Core Program Implementation

The selection of high-quality instructional materials is one of the most impactful decisions a district can make. As your partner we aim to ensure you make the most of your investment. We bring clarity to the selection process and build confidence in teachers and leaders using these new materials. We provide ongoing support through collaborative planning, implementation meetings, direct coaching, and an HQIM Implementation Training Series that empowers educators with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary for data-driven, aligned, and purposeful instructional practices that lead to improved student reading outcomes.

The Science of Reading Series (Live, Virtual)

Our Science of Reading Professional Learning Series teaches critical components of literacy instruction for Early ChildhoodPrimary, or Intermediate Grades, or Administrators, integrating current research into each module and translating it into classroom application. We also offer Digging Deeper into the Science of Reading—10 additional modules that dig in deeper to topics introduced in Modules 1-10. Choose this option if you have the required professional learning time in your professional learning schedule. Each module requires 2.5 hours of delivery and guided practice time.

Science of Reading Series (Asynchronous)

Our Science of Reading Professional Learning Series teaches critical components of literacy instruction for Primary, Intermediate Grades, and Adolescent Content-Area Literacy integrating current research into each module and translating it into classroom application. Each module is broken into 15-20 minute segments with ongoing pauses for integration of the learning. Choose this option if your professional learning time is limited or if an asynchronous format would work best for your educators.

Adolescent Literacy Series (Live, Virtual)

The Adolescent Literacy Series translates findings of research in adolescent literacy to increase teacher knowledge and provide teachers with practices that can be immediately used in their daily content area classrooms in grades six through twelve. Teachers will better understand the needs of adolescent learners in relation to literacy and how to support access to the core curriculum and complex text through a focus on disciplinary literacy.

All our online trainings can be bundled with live, virtual application sessions, coaches meetings, or implementation meetings to support district needs. Plus, in addition to our online and asynchronous services, we can offer Personalized Onsite Consultation and Implementation Support. Contact us using the form below to learn more!
