Data Meeting Support

Our data meetings give educators the opportunity to leverage their student data to provide the right instruction for every student.

Why Our Approach Works

Not all data meetings are created equal. At the HILL, we use all relevant student data and diagnostics along with teachers’ knowledge of their students for a clear view of student skill and need. Then our research-based, data-driven approach empowers educators to translate that data into impactful instructional decisions.

How We Work

In our partnerships, we collaborate with the district to:

  • develop an assessment framework including all critical types of tests that are reliable and valid
  • establish an assessment schedule articulating how and when to use each assessment
  • implement progress monitoring requirements and guidelines
  • create an activity timeline for consistent, accurate, and timely data collection
  • train educators to administer and score literacy assessments
  • schedule grade level data meetings and preparation meetings aligned with the assessment calendar

Our Process

Grade level data meetings are held 5 times a year using our proprietary protocol to analyze student data. Then district level meetings help the administration identify areas of growth and areas that need support.

We use Continuum, a component of HILL Online, to organize literacy assessment data in a user-friendly interface. Continuum aids teachers as they determine an instructional focus for each student, track student growth, and group students for small group instruction.

I went to one of our schools and one our Holyoke coaches was leading the data meeting herself. It was probably the strongest collaboration between teachers, interventionists, the coach, the ELD teachers for our English learners, our special educators were sitting in that space together, talking about individual students and how they were going to group them. It was just incredibly powerful to see that when we hear data, sometimes that can have like a negative connotation to it. This was really genuinely about the students who are in our classrooms receiving this instruction every day.
